2011 – 2013
RDW modernized its system for registering vehicle liability. The two-part paper registration certificate was replaced by a registration card with a chip. The front ends used by garages, PostNL service points, and RDW itself to register liability were completely renewed. As software architect and lead developer in this large and complex modernization programme, I advised and directed the project while also contributing extensively to its implementation. From 2014 onwards, the paper certificate for every newly registered vehicle was replaced by a credit-card-sized registration card.
2006 – 2011
Directed, advised, and implemented several projects involving the migration and external accessibility of existing systems. These included vehicle registration and suspension, a system that gave all RDW employees access to base registries, and the registration of periodic vehicle inspections (APK). I also advised and directed working groups and review panels focused on improving software-development processes, application lifecycle management, and software architecture.
- Defined and reviewed the software architecture and provided direction and advice on application architecture and technical design issues.
- Coached project team members on architecture and design.
- Coached project team members on technical matters.
- Directed and monitored implementation throughout the development, testing, acceptance, and production environments.
- Participated in working groups aimed at professionalizing and optimizing the development process.
- Served as lead developer for several projects, including the credit-card-sized registration certificate and APK registration for authorized companies.
